Zanetti has gone on to achieve lengendary status at the San Siro - having appeared in more than 600 matches for the Nerazzurri.
It would all have been very different however. In 2000, Il Capitano had a major falling out with then coach Marco Tardelli and almost made a move to Spain.
Speaking to Guerin Sportivo magazine, he revealed:"In 2000, with Tardelli at the helm, I really thought about leaving Inter."
"I had an agreement with Real Madrid and everything was ready for me to move to Spain.
"But, at the last minute, it was [Inter Milan President Massino]Moratti's words that convinced me to remain."
