He said: "The history of this club would suggest we should be contesting more semi-finals and finals than they have done in the last 25 years.
"It has been there once or twice. Brian Little did very well here. I remember him telling me that to win (in 1996) was really terrific and the feeling that was felt throughout the whole club was energising.
"I'm acutely aware of the affinity that the club holds for it (the League Cup) and getting to Wembley is one of the great feelings you can have in football.
"Next on the agenda is to win some silverware. Of course it is, absolutely.
"You set out every single season and you give it some thought. The League Cup would be very important if we could do it."
